This morning, 911 received a call from a female reporting a threat and that someone had a gun and was trying to kill her. We immediately implemented our lockdown procedures while law enforcement responded. After a thorough investigation, which included a room-by-room search, the police confirmed that there was no threat, and they gave the all-clear.
I commend our staff for their swift and professional response in following our safety protocols. Our students remained safe, and we are incredibly grateful for the quick actions of our educators and law enforcement officers.
Additionally, our technology department is actively working alongside authorities to determine the source of the call. False reports like this create unnecessary fear, disrupt learning, and divert emergency resources from real situations. Making a false 911 call is a serious matter, and we will fully support law enforcement in identifying the responsible party and ensuring appropriate consequences. If any student has any information regarding have them reach out to the Eaton County Sheriff's office or a trusted staff member
We understand that these situations can be unsettling, and we appreciate your trust and support as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. If your child needs support processing today’s events, please have them speak to a trusted adult within the building.
Thank you for being a part of our strong, supportive Bellevue community.
Sincerely,
Eric McCalla
Superintendent Bellevue Community Schools
